According to the Government, ecommerce in the UK is now worth more than £160 billion a year - and while high street sales falter, online sales are growing at a rate of 30% annually. 20% of all retail spending in the UK is now online. That's a lot of shopping. Basically if you're selling, you need to be selling online.

Ecommerce is easy to do. It's not so easy to do WELL.

Average conversion rates (the number of people who visit the site who actually buy something) are about 2%. Average abandonment rates (the number of people who put something in the basket but don't buy it) are about 66%. If you're not achieving even those rates then you have some work to do.

But are you happy just to be average? The industry leaders get conversion rates of something in the region of 25%!
